In eternity rings the gemstones surround the ring and seem to be going on for eternity, which gives the name to the ring. Diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, or even semi-precious stones of the same cut and size are placed in a row, one next to the other. There are also variations of the eternity ring, like the half-eternity ring, in which gemstones cover only half of the ring, and the 8/10 eternity ring, in which gemstones cover 8-tenths of the ring allowing room for size changes.
Eternity rings are one of the most popular and easy-to-wear ring designs as you can wear them on any finger you prefer and combine them with many other jewellery designs. You could, also, create a statement-like effect by wearing two or more eternity rings on the same finger.
Eternity rings are a traditional anniversary ring, aiming to complement the engagement and wedding ring, but nowadays many women choose diamond eternity rings as their wedding rings. They may choose an eternity ring with a different diamond cut or a different gemstone altogether (perhaps a birthstone) for their anniversary ring. But wearing an eternity ring is no longer a right limited to married women. A lot of women wear eternity or half-eternity rings, regardless of their marital status.
